County by county election map
Thought this was interesting. Note that the colors have been "corrected" -- They represent "True Blue" (conservative), and "Radical Red" (liberal)

Re: County by county election map
Thanks for posting this. It really shows one of the vulnerabilities of the Republican party. Democrat influence is very concentrated geographically. They really only need to focus on specific areas to keep up their momentum. It would be interesting to see some demographic information overlayed on this (i.e. income, ethnicity, religious beliefs, etc.).
Seems like we need to work toward changing the electoral college away from an all or nothing system.

Re: County by county election map
You beat me to it. They don't really need to campaign in the heartland, where the votes are more likely to be conservative. They can stick to the major cities and wrap things up very efficiently. Another reason the country is basically lost.Dad24GreatKids wrote:Thanks for posting this. It really shows one of the vulnerabilities of the Republican party. It looks like Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio voted for Obama. It's not just Austin that's a Democrat stronghold.

If I remember correctly, in the 2008 election, Houston voted for Obama, but Harris county as a whole did not. This time, Harris county did.Maxwell wrote:And every single Houstonian I know voted for Mitt. Amazing. Of couse I live slightly outside the city...

That map rather reflects his sentiment...1787 December 20. (to James Madison). "I think our governments will remain virtuous for many centuries; as long as they are chiefly agricultural; and this will be as long as there shall be vacant lands in any part of America. When they get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, they will become corrupt as in Europe." - Thomas Jefferson

Re: County by county election map
we ate dinner tonight at our favorite local Mexican restaurant
two of our normal waiters asked what we thought of the election...and before I could answer, they both piped in saying barry is a lair and has no intent to help folks that are here illegal, and is not helping to make it legal for some that have been here ALL of their lives
and they couldn't understand why he won, when almost all of their buddies, some legal and some otherwise voted for romney
yes these guys are of mexican heritage and have been here a long long time
pretty amazing what they said next about persons with a darker shade of skin than theirs and how they are all drinking koolaid to vote for the monkey boy
it was great, made my dinner that much better

Thank you for the map. I too would be interested in a link to the demographic information.

I'm moving to Oklahoma, Kansas, or Nebraska!
Luckily, my county went red (or blue in this case), but what good did that do us?

Re: County by county election map
I've wondered something like that for some time. Either each county had one electoral vote or each state had to give it's electoral votes according to how the majority of the counties within the state voted.packa45 wrote:Just imagine if each county had one electoral vote.....

Here's what an election map looks like when a presidential candidate has conservative grassroots Message!

Re: County by county election map
Just think if we did not have the 17th amendment. The senate would always be heavy conservative. The "progressives" knew what they were doing when they pushed for the change away from having state legislatures electing the senators. Wish we could repeal the 17th, that would make a huge change in our country.
