WWB ammo...missing something?

Post by magillapd »

I bought a 100 pk of .40 S&W Winchester white box from Walmart. I noticed that one of the rounds had a primer in it but no bullet was ever seated. Image

I went to Winchester's website to try to find a contact us form or email address and found it under their FAQ section
http://www.winchester.com/learning-cent ... s/FAQ.aspx #49 has a link to a contact us form, but when you click on it, it doesn't do anything. I tried right clicking and selecting open in new tab, it comes up with an http error 404. That leaves my only option to write them a letter, and that would cost me more then it's worth. Gotta love customer service in 2012.

I had the opposite problem with Federal earlier this year, viewtopic.php?f=23&t=53165 but they were easy to contact and they took care of me.

This might help...might have to do a few transfers, but it's worth a try.

I know a guy that bought a box of WWB. Several rounds in the box had ripples in the brass where it looked like the case had lightly buckled. He called their CS and described it. They sent him another box of ammo gratis.

Maybe Winchester will send you a bullet and a few grains of powder.

I haven't found anything like this yet, but I've only purchased about 3k rounds of WWB.

Some of the wwb I've bought from Walmart just sucked... Looked like it rolled around on the floor for a while and I've even found cracked cases and bullets seated backwards and off center.. I don't buy it at Walmart any more .... However I've never had the same issues from academy and some local sporting food establishments.

I've only bought mine from WalMart and my number might be closer to 4k. The first 3k was .40 and I switched to .45 last year, so I've got a bunch of that now too.

When buying mine I alternate between .40 and 45. It may just be the 4 different walmarts I have close to me in Austin but the bulk packs here seem to be of really bad quality.i just stopped buying it and spend my money on defense loads. And for each range trip I use 22lr to practice and then use one mag of my defense ammo.

Hmmm, I have a dozen or more WWB in various calibers purchased at various Wal-Marts around the country. I must check 'em out before the upcoming zombie invasion.

I had a box of 9mm where one bullet had a hole punched clean through the case. I had intended to call Winchester and let them know about it, but since the rest of the box was ok, I never did call.
I don't remember now where we purchased this box, but it was either at Walmart or Academy.

Let us know what they say if you get ahold of them!

Now thats impressive.

I guess I have been fairly lucky purchased and shot 5-6k of WWB from walmart in both 9mm and .40 with out any issues.

Do you think ammo can have "factory seconds"? Because, now that I think about it, its only the stuff I've bought at Wal-Mart that has ever had a problem. I've know I also bought WWB at Cabelas and at an outdoors store in California, and I don't remember it being anything other than regular, shiny brass and all in good condition. The stuff from Wal-Mart is what had a "wrinkled" case edge that wouldn't feed (9mm) and just generally dirty looking. I try to buy PMC now; its pretty cheap and works good.
