Circus, circus

Post by onerifle »

Anyone know what the scoop is at Reliant Stadium regarding Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey? I'm not worried about runaway lions, tigers, and bears...:P just wondering if it's posted 30.06. I wouldn't think it qualifies as a "professional sporting event"....

Anyone?

I was wondering that too. We'll be taking my 2 year old to B&B when they come to Dallas, and I know for a fact that the American Airlines Center has metal detectors at EVERY entrance. Is a circus considered a sporting event?

Siegfried and Roy might answer that in the affirmative.
Tiger 1; Roy 0 in the final match.

I would think that a circus is NOT a sporting event...

Unless bobo da clown is wanting to setup up a floppy shoe relay run with his fellow clowns around the 3 rings...Can you imagine trying to run in those things??? I heard Nike is getting in on the act...

Stop it Steve!

All kidding aside for the moment...

There was a discussion a few months ago about this fellow enthusiast coming in from out of town to attend a concert at the Houston Toyota Center...He asked about the same thing you did...We figured it was not a sporting event, so he carried all the way there and back...

I don't think he had a problem, but that was that facility...

The Reliant facility may handle the situation differently...

Their obvious question may be, "Why do YOU want to carry a GUN to the circus???"..."There will be children there!"...

To which I would reply...Read about the gang fights inside Astroworld and outside in that area, and tell me why I shouldn't carry if that amount of disorder and potential threat is around that complex???

They just talked about that this morning on the news...

Now does that mean I'm (others) going to act upon something like that???

I'll let ya'll connect the dots...Ya'll are smarter than I...

I don't belive that a circus could in any way be considered a sporting event, I would carry unless I saw a 30.06 posted.

That was pretty much my original question- does anyone know if Reliant Stadium posts 30.06 for the circus?

They probably would, its an incorrect application of that provision in the law...And anyone who openly questions their "authority" would get the Nth degree and then some, even though you were right...

I do know that the Reliant facility does have some very prominent "temporary" 30.06 signs that they can erect pretty much anywhere, and any entrance to an event...

I wonder if the sign could actually be "too" big???

Charles may have to chime in here and lay on us some wisdom from his experience...

Slightly off topic, but why are sporting events so taboo? Does anyone know why sporting events were added to the no-no list?

Back OT, since Reliant stadium was designed and built as a sprts arena, could it not be argued that based on the type of facility that carry would already be off limits reguardless of the event being hosted?

My guess is that it has something to do with the volume and density of people at sporting events. In that kind of crowd your chances of hitting an innocent bystander if you miss are GREATLY increased.

That said....I still don't like it.
