Avid hunter = SWAT team visit

Post by Rex B »

"Officers investigating a weapons complaint have removed guns from a home in Sharpsburg, ending a tense situation that stretched for hours Thursday afternoon.

"Maryland State Police troopers were trying to serve a warrant against Terry Porter, a welder and avid hunter, after getting a tip that he had illegal weapons in his house "

"Openly admitted to it," eh?

It sounds like the informant is crazier than the guy who was raided.

Of course we don't know the details of how PC was built for the warrant, but from what's reported in the news in this case it was pretty thin.

That is what the charges ended up being based on.

Maybe the police response was a little overblown - helicopters, dogs, bomb squad, etc. - but the bottom line is the felon cannot possess firearms.

loose lips sinks ships. Old proverb that has contemporary relevance to this story. Had the guy not been so vocal about his disposition he wouldn't be in this case. Yes, I know, it's his 1A right, but look where that got him. That said, the informant is the loose lips that i'm referring to. :bigmouth

I gathered that. I was just amused by the "admitted to being a prepper," like he was "admitting to being a drunk" or something like that.

From the article,
he had guns and a twenty-year-old conviction for dealing cocaine that landing him in jail for six months in 1992.
Only six months for dealing cocaine? Maybe it was plead down to a misdemeanor, the article does not state what type of conviction it was. Cocaine is Schedule II anyway, not nearly as dangerous as marijuana.

But then again, he did "admit[ted] to being a prepper,"

Wouldn't you want to be a prepper too? :cheers2:
