Re: BATFE?
A clear example of governmental overreach.
What possible justification could there be for doing this under the Constitution? The bureau, known as TTB, collects taxes on booze and smokes and tells the companies that produce them how to do business — from approving beer can labels to deciding how much air a gin bottle can contain between lid and liquor.
It decides which valleys in Oregon and California can slap their names on wine labels, what grapes can go into wine and which new alcoholic drinks are safe to import.
The Constitution preserves the advantage of being armed which Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation where the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms. James Madison

Re: BATFE?
And this is why I have said that the BATFE is no such thing...it should be disbanded as an agency, and the firearms and explosives enforcement turned over to a branch of the FBI. Then they could focus on real crimes like actual gun smuggling and other things such as licensing for bulk explosives handling...and leave the states to handle day to day regulation of gun sales, etc.

It's not gun control that we need, it's soul control!
Re: BATFE?
In a modern, free country, BATFE would be a chain of convenience stores.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.
