Re: USA Today Second Amendment Poll
12,018,528 total votes
97% yes
2% no
1% undecided
This poll is a lot more encouraging than that CBS poll in the other thread, partly because the 12,018,528 total votes versus 38,079 in the other poll which only gives a 4.44% advantage to gun owners, and which was heavily swayed by international votes and the lefty/leftist coasts.

Re: USA Today Second Amendment Poll
The problem is this has been around since 2007 and you can vote multiple times, so the gun owners have heavily voted over the years and skewed the percentages.

It had been a few months since I've seen this one posted...y'all are slipping!
I think the first year or two I was on this forum, I voted at least 5 times.

Voted again. Didn't realize it was from 2007.
Re: USA Today Second Amendment Poll
Sorry, folks - it had just been sent to me by a friend and I passed it on without looking at the date.

Re: USA Today Second Amendment Poll
Not trying to be a downer. I'd just point out that any poll regarding a person's individual right to keep and bear arms is irrelevant. That's the point of a right: it's something you have, whether anyone likes it or not. Even if we held a national vote, and 97% voted to ban guns, it wouldn't be relevant. We had the right recognized by the 2nd Am. prior to the framing of the Constitution. Any law or executive action that infringes our right is unconstitutional. I recognize the ever present political danger of people wanting to ban guns. I just don't care what any poll says, except as it may indicate political pressure on weak minded politicians. I'm more worried when governments start moving against guns and ammo. The value of polling is to be aware of what politicians may be sensitive to. A true statesman will never support gun-banning, absent a constitutional amendment repealing the 2nd Am.

Re: USA Today Second Amendment Poll
The unfortunate truth is that many in this country seem to believe that the 2nd Amendment is indeed one that can be taken-away, infringed or whatever you care to call it. In actuality, it can. We cannot hide under our blinders and hope that everyone see things in the same light that some of us do.atticus wrote:Not trying to be a downer.
