Rebuilding a Ruger 10/22
I am having to rebuild my 10/22 and have ordered a new lower block for it, however I have to rubuild the bolt. I took the firing pin and extractor out and have a bit of carbon build up in it. What would be a good solvent to soak it in to break down the carbon. I have a bottle of hoppes 9 bore cleaner.

I use cheap Walmart brake cleaner.
Just don't get it on your stock or plastic.
And wear eye protection.

Soak parts over-night in Ed's Red (equal parts odorless mineral spirits, kerosene, automatic Transmission Fluid ( ATF ) – any manufacture – any type is OK, and acetone. Use metal quart can with plastic flip lid for long term storage container. Don’t use plastic motor oil container – acetone does weird things to the plastic during long term storage). Scrub part with an old tooth brush, then use brake cleaner spray (with eye protection). Parts will come out spotless. Re-oil.
