45 days and I am certified!

Post by JWA4Life »

Hey all,

I just dod my daily login to the website (like I have been doing every day for the past few weeks) and I just saw the sweet words indicating:

Application Completed - license issued or certificate active

So, now begins the process where I anxiously await the postman each day for the next few days until the plastic arrives!

Here is my timeline for those of you who might be curious:

1/27 - CHL class
1/29 - Received DPS packet w / PIN
1/30 - Mailed all paperwork to DPS in Austin
2/28 - Website status changed from Packet Mailed to Appicant to Processing Application
3/15 - Website status changed from Processing Application to Application Completed - license issued or certificate active

45 days from the day I mailed the paperwork to see those sweet words on the website. If I accounted for up to 5 days to get the plastic, that puts me at 50 days door to door. That is definitely a bargain considering that I am dealing with a government agency. After 4 years in the Air Force I am definitely keen to the whole "hurry up and wait" method of doing business.

To bad I could not have had the plastic arrive on my birthday on Saturday, March 17, but hey...I am happy with things just the way they are

Time to celebrate by going to the range!

Regards,

Thanks Glock! I am a first timer. I am very excited to say the least. It looks like you should be getting the good news soon yourself! ;-)

They mailed it yesterday

Ok, I know this is probably too cheesy and "jumping the gun"...no pun intended...but I called DPS to find out more information with regard to my recently changed web status from Processing Application to Application Completed - license issued or certificate active. The technician that I spoke with said the license was mailed yesterday afternoon and would take 5 - 7 days to receive it. Now, unless our US Postal service is that messed up, I cannot see why it would take 5 - 7 days for a piece of mail to go from Austin to Fort Worth. Just another bit of information that I thought I would share with the group here.

I guess I had better get the details on what is required to do the Wally Walk and let that be my first order of business as an offical CHL holder :fire

Congratulations!

:cheers2:

I'm waiting on the mailman also. In my experience, mail usually take three days from Austin.

Plastic Arrived!!!!!!

Post by JWA4Life »

Hey gang,

I got my wish and got my plastic in the mail on my birthday, which was Saturday, March 17. I got drunk that night so I could not carry it, but I did go out and do a quasi-Wally Walk today when I woke up. I say "quasi" because my brother in law should be getting his plastic in the mail any day now and we are going to go do the Wally Walk at the same time. Door to Door in just 47 days....how awesome is that?!?!?!

Thanks for all of the support you all!
