Dallas Auto Show - Saw one officer with 1911

Post by austin »

Wife and I went to the Dallas Auto Show today.

I carried Kimber .45 Ultra Carry OWB in a paddle holster under a loose shirt.

Huge police presence outside. Invisible inside. No 3006 signs and no security past the front door. I saw one other person who was carrying - he printed briefly under a t-shirt.

We had fun looking at cars. Wife REALLY liked the new Camaro. But she will be getting a new suv this year. Its come down to the Blazer vs the Pathfinder. Both are well made with well thought out interiors and both have room for her Radios.

When we left we drove by the police handling traffic for the Stars game. All DPD officers carry Glocks, but I saw one guy with a 1911. Whats up with that? SWAT? Federal officer? Another PD?

I met a deputy sheriff last month that was serving papers. He had a Springfield double action 1911 in .45. Very odd indeed. Turns out he is an unpaid reserve officer. A volunteer, if you will.

Take away the second first, and the first is gone in a second.

DPD switched to Sigs in .357 and are still in the process of converting.

Went to the show on Sunday with the family, great show!

I too like the new camaro but am waiting for the new G35 coupe to roll out in April when they announce they are producing the 2006 concept car :)

My wife fell in love with the GMC Acadia there. We're looking into a new ride for her since the girls are getting bigger.
