Please contact Cruz and Cornyn NOW

Post by baldeagle »

The filibuster fight begins tomorrow. Please call both our Senators and instruct them to fight against it like there's no tomorrow. We cannot afford to lose this fight, because it will affect every piece of legislation in the future. It's critical that Harry Reid not win this battle.

I believe they are are referring to Senate Rules adopted every new Congress. Harry Reid threatened to change the rules to make filibuster either less potent or unavailing. I'm sure these Senators know what to do. The vote, if there is one, will be mostly on party lines; nobody can afford to break ranks on these organizational details.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

The so-called "nuclear option" requires only a 51 vote majority to override traditional Senate rules. The Dems have that majority, so the only question is, will Harry Reid call for the vote, and will 51 Dems support it? The Republicans are powerless to stop it with only 45 Republicans in the Senate.

They are not powerless to convince some of the Democrat colleagues that what goes around will come around.

I believe the Dems know that, as when the Republicans threatened the "option" when they had control of the senate. There is speculation now that some Dems might not go along, and also there is a "gang of 8" (I hate that term) discussing a compromise.

I hate that term, too...because of this:

Please turn up the heat. The deluge of faxes has motivated someone on the Senate side to disable the fax machines. Now it's time to call them directly.

1) Call Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's office at (202)224-2541 and ask him why he is siding with Harry Reid on the so-called Filibuster "Reform."

2) Call the Senate Switchboard at (202)224-3121 and ask to speak to your senators directly. Let them know you oppose any deal for so-called Filibuster "Reform."

Do not let them get away with this!
