Mexicans creating self-defense squads

Post by TexDotCom »

Very interesting story on WFAA about how Mexican citizens, who have long been "disarmed" by their government, are bucking the system and taking it upon themselves to care for the their families and communities:

http://www.wfaa.com/news/texas-news/In- ... 74241.html

Our politicians go on and on about gun control, but folks who've suffered under it for years understand:

"The movement so far seems to be well-accepted by local residents fed up with crime that plagued this stretch of mountain highway.

"In less than a month, they have done something that the army and state and federal police haven't been able to do in years," said local resident Lorena Morales Castro, who waited in a line of cars at a checkpoint Friday. "They are our anonymous heroes.""

My hat is off to them for taking the initiative and responsibility of taking care of themselves. :tiphat:

I can only guess how our government will react to such groups if citizens are similarly disarmed by the anti's. Can you say "Go directly to federal prison"?

When one looks at the numbers of innocent victims in Mexico and the years they have been suffering at the hands of these savage criminals one has to wonder why it took so long. But then when you realize that these people were disarmed and at the same time told by the government that they would be taken care of then we can understand.

I wonder how many would have to die in the US if this were to happen and how long it would take?

I'd imagine it depends on the state and the area. In San Francisco or Berkeley, probably all of them; in rural areas of states that don't demonize the mere thought of owning a gun, dunno...
