Poorly-trained security officer to say the least

"Mall cop" challenges a crowd over a minor issue of taking pictures on mall property.

Seems like a lot of personal risk to take over a non-life threatening situation, and I must admit to siding with the crowd.

So many things wrong there.
Security officer is clearly in the wrong, but the women she fought is not going to get off that easy. She is clearly trying to strangle the security guard both while they were standing and then while on the ground. The guard pushing her back is pretty weak justification for using deadly force with your hands. All those bystanders standing around... Thats shocking to me. Even more so when a guy trys to break it up and they tell him not to. What is wrong with this country? That guy who broke it up instantly de-escalated the situation. Any one of those bystanders could have done the same. All without trying to choke out the guard (who is clearly in the wrong).

Lol that fight almost looked fake. Glad to see there was one person with common sense to stop it..the crowd wasn't helping.

All over somebody taking a photo of a crash? "rlol"

Unless they were impeding traffic or creating some other hazard that didn't come across in the video, a bit of discretion and looking the other way would have been the best thing for all involved.

Much like Barney Fife, she felt it was her duty to unthinkingly enforce a rule. However, in Barney's day the public was more cordial and would have been less of a threat to him.

Something did feel pretty fake about it, I agree.

I'm thinking she is now a former mall cop.

Great now she will go on welfare, unemployment and whatever else she can obtain at our expense.

That is so true, and this guard clearly doesn't get it. I can't believe she thinks its ok to physically remove an individual like that for something so minor. Ridiculous!

Little mans syndrome in a woman. I guess she couldn't make the Dog Catchers list much less become a cop.
Give some a little sense of power and watch them flip out.
Be without fear in the face of your enemies.
Stand brave and upright that the Lord may love thee.
Speak the truth always even if it means your death.
Protect the helpless and do no wrong!

I think no one intervened for awhile because everyone (except the mall cop, and maybe the biker gal) found it entertaining.

While I suppose the hands-on-the-throat was technically life-threatening, as a practical matter it was only inconvenient and infuriating --- instead of trying to fend off the hands, mall cop spent an inordinate amount of time fumbling for her pepper spray or stun device or whatever (another point against her -- she should practice accessing her tools under pressure).

Overall not an impressive display of professionalism, judgment*, or skill on either participants' part. Both got locked into monkey-brain antics and coudn't find an exit by themselves -- the guy at the end provided a face-saving way out of it for both of them (note how fast they broke up when basically all the guy did was say something and put his hand on.)

See Rory Miller's description of "Monkey Dance." Typically a young male phenomenon, but women have been trying to catch up to guys for years in lots of things. You've come a long way, baby! (If you remember that, you are not a kid.)

*I mean, really, counting to 10? My third grade teacher did that, and it didn't work very well then either...

Epic fail on so many levels. She really needs some therapy, some professionalism, and some anger management. Clearly not a single person in the crowd took her seriously and that is what really steamed her up. Counting? Really?
