What to do when you're not the driver?

Could someone please clarify - I know that if I am driving and get pulled over, that I should hand my CHL over with my DL and answer questions/cooperate fully. But what is the proper thing to do if I am carrying, but am not the one driving when pulled over by a LEO? Hand over my CHL with the driver's DL? Simply tell the cop I have a CHL/am carrying?

Simple

If the officer asks for YOUR ID
Then you give your ID and CHL

If the officer asks all of you in the car " is anyone carrying a weapon" then say something like "I am a CHL and am carrying"

If the officer asks for the DRIVERS ID, then you do nothing

Nope, there is no requirement for that at all

If you are nervous and forget that you are not required, UNLESS ASKED, then don't just yell out "I have a gun", make sure you say it in a way that doesnt sound negative like "I have a CHL, and I am carrying"

I've wondered this myself. I've tried to look at it from the LEO's perspective. If I were a LEO and i'm leaning my head partially into a window communicating with the driver, Would I want to know if there are any potential "threats" in the vehicle? (I'm not saying CHL holders are threats or we should be viewed as such.)

I guess I came to the conclusion that it is the LEO's responsibilty if they are nervous to ask all passengers if they are carrying, at which time I would truthfully, respectfully and logically answer as suggested above.

Not in Texas. There are some states that it is required but not here.

And there's always the possibility/probability that the driver doesn't know a passenger is carrying...As a driver, I'm responsible for *my* weapon(s) in my vehicle, but not the weapons(s) of my passengers...

Personally, I keep my mouth shut, and I've never been asked (as a passenger) about it...

True! If I was riding around with a friend, I definitely wouldn't want to advertise it if I didn't have to. I am in the car multiple times a week with my beloved husband who is not yet licensed and he certainly knows if and when I am carrying. This is the situation that prompted the post.
