Haven't carried that way, but I have spent time with lateral epicondylitis AKA tennis elbow (pre-CHL). Mine eventually required surgery, and still reminds me of the fact now and then. No fun at all. You have my sympathy.

Do the medicine, do the exercises, don't do the don'ts.
The sooner I get behind, the more time I have to catch up.

I did the "in sling" approach after my rotator cuff surgery. In fact, it's torn again so I will be going down that road again as well. Be sure to wash the sling if you plan to fly anytime soon.... ask me how I know to advise that "rlol" It's funny now but wasn't that day. Apparently swabbing a sling is SOP with TSA
