Colorado State Senator John Morse concedes

As the name indicates, this is the place for gun-related political discussions. It is not open to other political topics.

I am posting this comment from the LA Times article because I think it is AWESOME! I hope I'm not violating any forum rules.

If you pay attention to history, it's easy to find a sure way to reduce gun violence. In 1865 a Democrat shot and killed Abraham Lincoln. In 1964 a Communist - turned Democrat - killed John F. Kennedy. In 1983 a registered Democrat shot and wounded Ronald Reagan. In 2007 a registered Democrat named Seung-Hui Cho shot and killed 32 people in Virginia Tech. In 2010 a mentally ill registered Democrat named Jared Lee Loughner shot Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and killed 6 others. In 2011 registered Democrat James Holmes shot and killed 12 people in a movie theater. In 2013 registered Democrat Adam Lanza shot and killed 26 people in a school. One could go on and on, but you get the point, even if the media does not. Clearly, there is a problem with Democrats and guns! Each year thousands are murdered in Chicago. Most of the dead and their killers are African Americans. The same can be said of every large city in America. Blacks voted for Obama to the tune of 97%. They are all Democrats. SOLUTION: It should simply be illegal for Democrats to own guns. Take the guns from Democrats and you've just reduced gun crime by 97%. Reduce gun crime by 97% and the US will have better crime statistics than any other nation on the planet.

This is amazing to actually see the Republic being a Republic and the People exercising their Duty.

Well Done Colorado, get those Laws wiped from the books!

It is fantastic that the Colorado voters in two areas made the recalls stick. Overall, however, the original plan was to recall 5 Colorado legislators and they were only successful in forcing those votes on 2 of them.

Some of the reports suggest that this was as much a backlash against Bloomy and his MAIG group trying to buy the election as it was against the CO control. Of course, there were many pro-gun groups pouring money in as well and a list of other factors outside control that came to play in these recalls.

Pro 2nd Amendment citizens still have a long ways to go in Colorado just to get back to even. The gun control laws are still in effect and I haven't seen any substantial push to get them repealed.

Chasfm, I would imagine that repeal efforts would follow on the momentum of this recall.

Always a good idea to post the link too, in case anyone wants to read the whole article or quote from it further down the line.

Thanks.!

The problem is that, even with these two recalls, the Democrats still control the Colorado legislature. Repeal will most likely be a little while in coming.

I hope the momentum doesn't die after the recall. These laws must come off the books.

My wife is wanting to go on an elk hunt, but I will not be hunting CO until these laws are gone. You have no idea how hard it is to have your wife be the one pushing for an elk hunt and you have to say no based on principle. :banghead:

Fingers are crossed for a NM draw hunt. (drawing odds for out of state rifle are about 5% for Gila area)

Progress is progress. Congratulations to the citizens of Colorado. These things also have the effect of reminding elected officials who they work for. I find it very telling that:

Morse is quoted as saying, "this is a horrible way to govern"; and

Giron is quoted as saying, "...I have not one iota of regret for what I voted on."

Next, the Dems will eliminate recalls elections so this can never happen again.
