Question about a S&W Mod. 19-4

Question: What is the value of a S&W Model 19-4, blued, in good condition with a trigger job done but slight holster wear on the barrel tip? Is this something to hold on to or should I get rid of it?

I have one that I paid $600 for, mine has no sign of wear. It is an excellent firearm. Bought it about 6 months ago. Also have a Colt Python but shoot the S&W just because of the price difference (Python worth so much more). Mine is also a 19-4. Had to tighten the screw on the mainspring to prevent some light strikes when shooting CCI primed 38 special which is what I usually shoot. I don't sell, I just buy more.

Thanks for the reply and the info. I got mine out of a trade and don't really care for it in particular. It is a great shooter but I think I'm going to sell it and invest into a semi.

I love mine for the range. I don't have to scroung to pick up the brass. Great target sights. For carry though I use an an automatic. Good luck with the sale.

Thanks, not in a hurry :-) But I saw some on the internet and noticed some are listed for over $700. I'll have to think it through but will most likely end up trading it for either a semi or a shotgun.

If you decide to sell it, check with your local police departments and their academy. Police firearms instructors must still attend class with both a revolver and a semi, and many of the officers do not have revolvers until they decide to take this class. It might be a way to get a fair price and a quicker sale.

I believe CHL instructors also require both, but I am not sure. I am also not sure about their possession of revolvers before that point.

I have a 19-4 that fits the description you gave almost exactly. Slight holster wear. I bought mine from a friend 7 years ago or so. He was a retired LEO. Mine saw lots of carry, with very little action. I also bought his 92FS in the same transaction.

I can tell you I'd never part with my 19-4. My son would shoot me if I did. He's already told me it's the one gun he'd want over any other in my collection when I pass.
