Sorry do not know anyone in the area. Just wanted to comment that $35 is not too much for a transfer. A whole lot more goes into the transfer than just filling out paperwork.

It's about average. It really depends on where you live, because (for the most part) competition sets the price. I am in the area of GT Distributors, who charges $25 for a transfer. Most retail stores charge much more (because they want to discourage transfers).

Here's a list of FFLs in the GP area that do transfers: http://www.gunbroker.com/FFL/SearchForF ... tate&sv=TX" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Plano pawn shop for $25 plus if you do 10 transfers, you get the 11th one free with their punch card customer loyalty program.

Not in Grand Prairie but Frank Kaisler (in Carrollton) charges $10 or $15 ( not sure which), Grabagun in Coppell charges $20 I believe. $35 is too much. Go on GunBroker and you can search for an FFL in your area and then give then a call. There's got to be someone in GP that's cheaper than $35.

Depending on traffic, you could chew through $10 of gas just going from South GP to Coppell and back. I'm not saying "Don't do it," but you have to consider the "city mileage" part when looking for an FFL in the DFW area.

Our local gun shop charges $45 for an FFL which is probably as high as I've seen but I still don't blame them--they can charge whatever they want IMO cuz this is Texas.

:txflag:

Another nearby shop charges $25 and the last time I was in there I saw shipping boxes all over the place. Must be maddening for them to deal with these "mail-order" guns when they are there to sell guns to the same folks that are using their FFL services.

I don't imagine it is much fun to deal with FedEx/UPS/DHL/whatever then customer comms and paperwork and NICS checks etc. but of course sometimes in the retail business you do-what-you-have-to-do to keep the customer satisfied.

I would much prefer to use an FFL agent that does not have a storefront. Those guys probably actually appreciate the little extra pocket money that transfers provide to them--but it can't possibly be "worth it" for LGSs to do FFLs?

I use Larry Bartee. His address is Waxahachie, but he's close to ovilla. He's $10 or $15 for a CHL. I've used him several times this year.
