Academy told me that they only get in about 4 boxes a month and that it's gone as soon as they open.
Anyways I have a new Ruger LCR in .22 WMR that makes awesome pew, pew pew sounds.

I don't know that there's a rush on .22 Magnum. Even though it's a good round, they have never been really popular. Good Luck and hope you find some soon.CoffeeNut wrote:I've been to 6 stores in two cities and haven't been able to locate a single box of .22 Mag/WMR. Every place said about the same things: "Haven't had it for a long time", "When we get it, we don't get a lot" or "We haven't had it in months". Everything else is back on the shelf around here including .22 and .17 in a few places so I guess I'm trying to figure out when .22 magnum became so popular? Even when I was looking for it I wasn't the only one asking for it.

I was hoping the lack of popularity meant that I'd at least be able to find it on a shelf but I guess I'll have to break down and shop online but the insane shipping charges make me feel like I'm just throwing money away.WildBill wrote:I don't know that there's a rush on .22 Magnum. Maybe try some on-line supplier and get on their waiting list.
Driving around to six stores in two cities isn't very economical either.CoffeeNut wrote:I was hoping the lack of popularity meant that I'd at least be able to find it on a shelf but I guess I'll have to break down and shop online but the insane shipping charges make me feel like I'm just throwing money away.WildBill wrote:I don't know that there's a rush on .22 Magnum. I have finally shot up all of my WWII ammo.puma guy wrote:Even though I still have some from the 1960's that I shoot when plinking, I can't resist the hoarding syndrome.![]()
Thanks for the heads up! I just picked up a box. I can't wait to shoot it as I haven't fired a .22 Magnum in at least 10 years.EEllis wrote:There is no rush it just has never been very popular so they don't make much. Right now I bet the rimfire lines are all cranking out other calibers is all.
Cabelas has some 22 mag in stock online right now. Order quick
I buy it even though I have no gun for it.WildBill wrote:I have finally shot up all of my WWII ammo.puma guy wrote:Even though I still have some from the 1960's that I shoot when plinking, I can't resist the hoarding syndrome.![]()
I think what's happened is that the manufacturers have had to put on extra shifts to get ahead on manufacture of the more popular calibers: .45 ACP, 9mm, .223/5.56 NATO, .308/7.62 NATO, etc., etc., and what that means is that the less popular calibers probably are not being made right now so as to make manufacturing capacity available to the calibers with the biggest demands.CoffeeNut wrote:I was hoping the lack of popularity meant that I'd at least be able to find it on a shelf but I guess I'll have to break down and shop online but the insane shipping charges make me feel like I'm just throwing money away.WildBill wrote:I don't know that there's a rush on .22 Magnum. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled to see boxes of 9mm and .380 back in stock but I have a new toy and want to utilize it. Thankfully Cabelas had some in stock so I'll at least be able to cling to that box until I can raid a few shelves when it comes back in stock elsewhere. The Annoyed Man wrote:I think what's happened is that the manufacturers have had to put on extra shifts to get ahead on manufacture of the more popular calibers: .45 ACP, 9mm, .223/5.56 NATO, .308/7.62 NATO, etc., etc., and what that means is that the less popular calibers probably are not being made right now so as to make manufacturing capacity available to the calibers with the biggest demands.CoffeeNut wrote:I was hoping the lack of popularity meant that I'd at least be able to find it on a shelf but I guess I'll have to break down and shop online but the insane shipping charges make me feel like I'm just throwing money away.WildBill wrote:I don't know that there's a rush on .22 Magnum. I wanted this LCR for a backpack/trail gun but the more I fiddle with it the more I like it for an "any excuse to put it in my pocket" gun.Oldgringo wrote:I have several boxes of .22WRF lying around for my Ruger Single-Six Convertible. A nice little .22 WRF 'nose' gun for my, or Mrs. Oldgringo's, pocket would be nice.
