Watch out for the Kemah Cops. They once charged someone with unintentionally exposing their handgun in the parking lot.
They have had more than their share of scandals. There seems to have been a lot of improvements over at that department over the last 5 years, but some of the old timers might still exist.

So they charged someone with a crime that does not exist in Texas? And the DA went through with it? What a ... (I better not try to finish that sentence. Ten year old daughter rule.)Liberty wrote:Watch out for the Kemah Cops. They once charged someone with unintentionally exposing their handgun in the parking lot.
Remember, in a life-or-death situation, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

I don't know exactly how the system works, but the lower-level assistant district attorneys that handle misdemeanor charges are not very experienced. I doubt the elected DA ever heard of the case.barres wrote:So they charged someone with a crime that does not exist in Texas? And the DA went through with it?

Yep. I heard a particularly stunning story from the League City range owners about one of their officer’s behavior on the shooting range.Liberty wrote:Watch out for the Kemah Cops. They once charged someone with unintentionally exposing their handgun in the parking lot.

And I remember another time where one of them was leaning over a rail looking at the main plaza, not paying any attention to the hundreds of people walking behind him, with his gun totally exposed to a grab.

There's more, but it would be beating a dead horse.
