Sig p238 picky feeder

Post by asbandr »

Went to the range the other day and my sig p238 didn't want to feed the Winchester fmj ammo. Anyone else's not seem to like that ammo?

Nope. Mine feeds it just fine. In fact, I haven't found any ammo it doesn't like.

Tell us how exactly it "didn't want to feed" and maybe we can help.

Check your recoil spring. Is it made of round wire or is it flat wire?

How do you lube it? The P238 likes to be run wet. Better still is some good quality synthetic or silicone grease on the slide rails.

Had my P238 since 2011. It even has the short round spring in it and I have had no malfunctions with any ammo. I have shot all sorts of ammo through the years, but nothing that it wouldn't eat.

Regardless, if we can't help you, send it to Sig. They'll make it right.

The only ammo ours doesn't like are hollow points where the nose is flatter so I switched to Hornady Critical Duty. Never had a problem with any FMJ ammo.
