10 rd magazine for SR1911 CMD
Has any used the 10 rd magazine made by Ruger or McCormick. Or any other extended mags for a SR1911. Thinking about getting a couple and would like to know any pro's and con's for them. Watch a you tube video comparing the two mentioned and they both worked fine...
Thanks

I don't use 10 round 1911 mags but several folks I know do. They all swear by the McCormic brand. You might want to look at the Tripp Cobramag.
Pros, two or three extra shots.
Cons, sticks out of the gun about two inches, Not legal in IDPA, Makes an already heavy gun just that much heavier.

I have some 10 round mags I use with my Springer GI mil spec. I can't recall if they are Wilson or McCormick. I use them when prepping for stuff hits the fan times like hurricanes or other scenarios. My big Springer shoots great and the added weight smoothes things out. Not much use for concealed carry unless I was trying to conceal with a poncho or overcoat.

I have a couple Tripp 10 round mags!
Great for the range or an extra mag to carry.
You can never go wrong with Tripp!
Great stuff made in Texas!

Guns are like parachutes, if your ever in a situation that you need one and you dont have one, you'll probably never need one again.

I've used the Tripp & McCormick ones in my SR1911, worked fine but I don't like the way they stick out from the grip so far...

Ditto on Tripp Cobramags. They are all I use for 1911s.....but 8 round only. If I need 10 rounds of .45 I'll just grab my XDM45-Compact 3.8". 9+1 for the short mag, and 13+1 with the extended mag.MoJo wrote:I don't use 10 round 1911 mags but several folks I know do. I have used the 8 round McCormick and Tripp cobra mags in my full size sr1911 with no issues so far but have never used any 10 round magsRetNavy wrote:Has any used the 10 rd magazine made by Ruger or McCormick. Re: 10 rd magazine for SR1911 CMD
have noticed there is more resistance putting these mags in the sr1911 compared to the ruger mags which I believe are made by checkmate

How do you like your SR1911 CMD? I've been shopping around for a pistol chambered in .45 and this one has caught my eye. The trick for me is finding one that fits my smaller hands well enough.

I love it.... having shot .45 most of my career in the Navy it was a pistol I was most familiar with... so when my wife surprised me with it I actually cried... having it as a EDC you would think the weight would be a bother but with a good holster and gun belt its quite comfortable.... the recoil is pretty much like any .45 grip wise.... stock grips were okay... fitted hand pretty comforatable... changed mine to Crimson Trace laser grips... still comfortable... if you think the grips might to big the officer model which i think might have a smaller grip... its a little more compact than the Commander... either way.... its a great weapon to carry and shoot....
(editedt) one thing I will add.... have probably shot over 1000 rds using various ammo and have never had a FTF or FTE.... front sight did break off when I was qualifying for my CHL but Ruger replaced it no charge

check out hickok45 youtube videos on the the sr1911s he has the on both the cmd and full size and in one video he talks about not sending the full size T and E gun back and buying it from ruger insteadSQLGeek wrote:How do you like your SR1911 CMD? I have heard of that front site issue but so far mine is still on and did ruger replace it with the same kind of site?RetNavy wrote:SQLGeek wrote:How do you like your SR1911 CMD?
