I thought about getting one of those Wyatt Gunsmoke Deep Cover .38's, but decided I did not like the "stick out" grip. I went instead with a PC 642. Great gun and great trigger and action.

Still no trigger guard. Hope the trigger pull is sufficiently heavy. Neat idea though. Wonder if you can just upgrade grips?
Re: S&W gun designed and promoted to be carried w/out holste
Light trigger and not trigger guard? I would pass, may with kydex trigger guard it would be ok. Comfort level, meh.

Not sold on the idea but here is a link to similar replacement grips.

Those grips have been sold by a grip maker as a stand-alone product for a long time. I've seen them advertised in American Handgunner, if I recall correctly.
Not a fan. Either this grip or with "Clipdraw".
A trigger uncovered is a carry gun waiting for a negligent discharge. Count me out.

Gun to skin contact with no holster in between is both a major safety hazard and big time uncomfortable. The carry method shown in the video is only a slight modification of what is colloquially known as "Mexican carry," which is generally avoided by professionals with some exceptions for those who must fit in with the criminal culture (e.g. some undercover officers.)
Users of this method of carry should expect to greatly increase the frequency of their gun cleaning to prevent rust and get the dust bunnies out of the barrel.
For all of the above reasons, this is not for me.

I know many people look down on the whole "Clip Draw" idea. Every time it gets brought up you hear about the risk of ND. While I've heard of ND when a gun is just stuck in the waistband I'll be honest I've never heard of it being an issue with any "Clip Draw" guns or add on's. Has anybody else? So if not is it a real issue or a perceived problem that may or may not be there?

I think Tammy barrel sweeps ole Wyatt several times there at about 3:20.

Yes, and neither of them opens and checks the closed action when they first pick it up.BigGuy wrote:I think Tammy barrel sweeps ole Wyatt several times there at about 3:20.
I winced several times during the first couple minutes and finally stopped watching. The musings of folks who don't understand the basics of gun safety are not worth my time.

Re: S&W gun designed and promoted to be carried w/out holste
There was a play on words by 'Wyatt' when he called the new grip panels a 'Tip Grip'.
The Birami 'Hip Grip' has been around for a few decades.
The Birami Hip Grip and the Tyler Grip adapter are good stuff for holsterless under the waistband on body carry. Fits just dandy in leather also. Not so good for pocket carry unless you want to 'hook' the panel to your jeans pocket and the rest of the revolver in the pocket. With a tucked in shirt, the handle is visible, if not, it isn't.
Don't know about the Gunsmoke copy (infringment?) of the Birami, but the Birami offers choices that leather does not. And choices are a good thing.
Styles and fashion demands for our ladies ofter preclude any 'gearing up' if your lady wants to (she should) to carry on body. The Birami/Tyler combination is on my bobbed M60, the Bride's shrouded Cobra, and a shrouded Airweight. If your blaster is a posket sized 38, you do not have to pocket/purse carry.
Once upon a time a couple or three decades ago and 30 or so pounds ago, a Birami/Tyler equiped M13 and I took a road trip from DFW to SEATAC. If carried around the appendix, its accessable (or was 30 lbs ago) while strapped in the seat belt.
Whatever works for you.

Maybe I was asleep at the wheel, again. Where did the 'light trigger' comment come from?
If the Forum is about sharing information, why the 'poo slinging attitude?
The Birami Hip Grip is just another option. No more or no less. Its utilitily value would depend on the circumstances. If you like revolvers, 'specially the shrouded ones, it has a place as an on body concealed carry option. Male or female .
If someone wanted to castrate themselves, a SAA cocked and carried appendix style would sure enough eventually get the deed done.

All the ones on the table had trigger guards.Beiruty wrote:Light trigger and not trigger guard?

Not a fan of RW but he did check the cylinder before demonstrating the trigger job. I also didnt see him sweep anybody with the muzzle but I only watched a few minutes. All the "for women" talk was too much to watch longer.Excaliber wrote:Yes, and neither of them opens and checks the closed action when they first pick it up.BigGuy wrote:I think Tammy barrel sweeps ole Wyatt several times there at about 3:20.
