So, I got the coverage letter from the "Health Insurance Marketplace". In part, it read...

You need to send the Marketplace proof of your yearly income for 2015.

Wait... What? They want me to send them PROOF of something that hasn't happened yet? How the heck can I do that? It would require a time machine to travel to 2016 in order to bring back 2015's tax return. And frankly, I'm not even sure about 2014's income, yet.

They helpfully list 11 different "Examples of documents" that I could send. They also state "These documents don't necessarily need to be dated for 2015." Well, gee, thanks for that! But then they aren't really PROOF, are they. Perhaps just an indicator.

Finally, it states...

If you do not provide document(s) by the following date, your tax credit amount and lower copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles may end after: February 27, 2015.

My agent says that last year they only verified income on some small percentage of the applicants, but that this year they seem to be requesting it for some 70% of the applicants. (He also mentioned some conspiracy theories regarding why this is so high, involving DHS databases and people with aliases.)

I got mine. Our monthly premium went "down" from $1,274 to $1,494, and our monthly wealth-redistribution subsidy went "up" from $789 to $702. So our monthly out of pocket for insurance for 2015 goes "down" from $485 to $792 - an out of pocket increase of 63%, right at a time when we are beginning to contemplate retirement. To put it in annual terms, our annual out of pocket insurance cost goes up from $5,820 to $9,504.......for a senior married couple. In other words, they are doing their level best to bankrupt us.

Frankly, I would not care if every single democrat were lined up and shot. I hate them all with a deep and abiding passion. I hate them for the impenetrability of their ignorance of the Constitution and government, the depth of their congenital stupidity, their avarice for things they did not earn, and for their general mendaciousness and overall immorality. As a political entity, the democrat party has been the destruction of our nation, and they've done it far more efficiently than the USSR or China could have ever done it, at the height of their cold-war powers.

The largest single reason people enter bankruptcy in this country is due to medical bills. Have a medical emergency that requires surgery and hospitalization, you can find yourself $100,000 in debt so fast it makes your head spin.

I am in the same boat. Lost my job (and insurance) in Nov. 2013. Started my own business and the fed's want proof of income for this year. Well, the year is not over so I don't know. They said to send our financial statement for the last quarter then. I told them they should already have that since I sent to the IRS. They said without my financial statement, they would have to drop my insurance. I cant state what my comment was on the forum due to the 10 YO rule. I also said to go ahead and fine me. Can't cost as much as the lousy insurance we were given for 1400.00 a month.
