New Sig P938 follows
I picked up my P938 last week and today finely had a chance to shoot it. It didn't go well. After about 20 rounds the hammer started following the slide. It did not fire, just had to cock the hammer back again. I have shot auto pistols for 50 years and have never had this happen. I fired 100 rounds and this happened at least 12 times, not acceptable. I took it back to the shop where I bought it and they are going to look into it and talk to Sig.
Has anyone ever had this type of problem?

Re: New Sig P938 follows
Sounds like a disconnect problem. On the P238 and p938 the disconnector sits under the left grip. It could be something simple such as a spring. It could be caused by something more complicated. Sig will sort it out.
Re: New Sig P938 follows
Pull the left grip and cast an eye upon it.
Might be something obvious.

you definitely got an unusual sig.... every manufacturer can't produce 100% quality 100% of the time. sigs are known to be darn close. hopefully they'll sort it out for you and their customer service will show you how much customers mean to them.

I'm sure that Sig will take care of it, I'm just disappointed that I have a new toy that I can't carry. This is the reason that I ALWAYS put a carry weapon through a shake down period before trusting my life to it. Could have been a real bad deal if I had waited until the ball dropped to find out.

The P238 has some teething problems. Mine went home for a visit at least once

Sad to hear this. My wife and I each got one fro Christmas and went to the range last weekend. 200+ rounds through each without a hiccup.
I am sure Sig will take care of the problem (unless of course you used it for a hammer or something

Were you shooting factory ammo or reloads?

You'll know for sure when you get it back from Sig, but I'm guessing the problem is a broken sear pin.
The most likely cause of a broken sear pin is someone letting the hammer drop while the slide is off.

Hey Canon, just curious to see if you got your pistol back yet and if they told what had gone wrong. I just purchased a 938 a few days ago and immediately took it to the range right after. Put 50 rounds through without a hiccup. Everyone says Sig is awesome with customer service.
Re: New Sig P938 follows
They are. I had to send my P938 back. On mine, you couldn't engage the safety unless you pulled back on the hammer. It was also shooting left and had lots of play on the muzzle end of the barrel.
Since I bought mine used, I had to pay, but the price was quite reasonable. It was about $150, as I recall.
They replace the sear pin & barrel and adjusted the sights, all for that $150. They also sent a test target with the pistol.
You'll not hear me complain.

Re: New Sig P938 follows
I've had a P938 for a few years now and have never had an issue like this. Only thing I've found is it doesn't like reloads. I'm sure Sig will take care of it.
BTW, great for EDC!
