Two Point Restraint Holster

Post by R DAVIS »

I've read conjecture that if Texas passes an Open Carry Law, that it will likely require carry in a shoulder holster, or a belt holster with two point restraint.

What exactly is "two point restraint"? I can imagine a strap or flap that goes across the hammer or behind the slide, with a snap or Velcro fastener, as one point of restraint, but what is a two point restraint"? Maybe a string tied to the weapon like on Sgt. Preston of the Yukon" (which is necessary to keep his revolver from disappearing in deep snow if dropped)?

Or, does it have a completely different meaning?

The Safariland website explains retention levels for holsters:

I think this is what you are asking.

Thanks WildBill. That is what I was asking about. Sounds like a pain to me.
