While open carry and campus carry bills have advanced in the Texas legislature, other states that are not necessarily considered gun friendly are moving forward with easing gun restrictions. It seems like there is a comeback being made by gun rights.
Charles Cotton is a board member with the NRA and the Texas Firearms Coalition says this could the direct result of Republicans winning big in last November's midterms.
“What we’re seeing is what most folks, including me, would consider somewhat priority handling of those bills,” Cotton said. “States are moving quicker and I think that is a direct result of the November elections.”
Carry feels open carry will become law in Texas, though campus carry may have a rougher time. Texas State Representative Drew Springer is also pushing a bill that would get rid of gun free zones in Texas.
“Making us put our guns away to go into certain places makes us targets and doesn’t allow us to protect ourselves,” Springer told KTRH News.
Springer says he's willing to tweak his bill for certain places, like churches.

I busted Cliff Saunders via email for showing people carrying long guns while the article is discussing open carry of handguns. We need to start holding reporters feet to the fire to report the news and stop trying to influence issues and make news themselves.

Re: Charles Cotton is famous?!
I slammed a reporter a few years ago who published a story of a CHL holder stopping a crime (can't remember the details of the article) but the pic they chose to put up to represent the article was some idiotic image with an obvious thug's waist line and a beretta hanging out... no holster, barely hanging on, pants sagging down in 'thug' fashion... I reamed the reporter pretty good and she sent me an apologetic email in return and changed the image.

I'll give Cliff Saunders credit. He responded and was apologetic and said he didn't intend to pass the buck but he is not the one that chose the photo. I asked him to pass my comments along to whomever does and he graciously agreed to do so.
I also shared the Culberson Comey YouTube video with him.
