New Address

Post by Bakeek »

Just moved and have a hankering to feel better about my first home purchase and outfit it with some new firearms.

If I have the change of address receipt and the temporary ID with all the originals, would I still be able to purchase without any hassle or having to wait on those pesky NICS checks?

Thanks Y'all!

I can't answer your question, but if you can wait about two weeks, that's about how long it took for both my new driver's license and CHL to come in when I moved last year.

I got the CHL, thats why I don't want to mess with the NICS check. Its part of the reason I even got the CHL.

Though you don't have to "deal with" the NICS check, you still have to fill out a Form 4473, and the address on your driver's license (and CHL, if you're using that to bypass the NICS call-in) must match that which you put down as your address on the form, under penalty of law.

So, put in for your new driver's license and CHL, wait the couple of weeks, then after you get them both back, go out and spend to your heart's desire. Since most FFL's are fanatically obsessive about the 4473, anything that doesn't match will be a red flag for you.
