Harry Reid doesn't even agree with Harry Reid.

This is what happens when you have career politicians. They sell their souls to the idealogues that control the party purse strings so that they can get re-elected...and trade their ability to think for one more election cycle. Before you know it, they are spouting off stuff that they never believed they'd say and that they don't "remember" saying when confronted.

Fixing this junk requires us to get rid of these lifers.

It is said that character is forged through consistent decision making based upon principles. True character thus provides confidence that the actions and expected actions of a person will remain true to the principles that person holds dear. By this definition, few career politicians are persons of character and therefore few are worthy of my support or vote. Those mentioned thus far in this thread are certainly not -- and what little character they possess seems based in principles far different from what I hold dear.

It's a shame voters don't hold these folks more accountable for what they say and do. All that matters to these folks is getting elected, remaining in office and securing more power through a majority in congress.

This kind of lying and two faced rhetoric should disqualify one from holding and elected office due to lack of integrity and good character.

What you are witnessing in democrats like Hillary is chameleon politics. They change their colorful rhetoric to blend in with their social landscape. They don't lead on principles. Narcissists aren't motivated by principled leadership.

I wonder if it's only a coincidence that the top ranking narcissistic presidents were democrats

I agree - not wit Harry and Hillary. I just wonder why there is so much resistance to term limits?

Republicans, Democrats, whatever the label, the vast majority want what is best for THEM and not what is best for AMERICA. I'm sorry, but politicians need to be rotated out of office regularly.

Power and authority is corrosive. It corrupts once good people quickly. It turns principles into schemes. When will we ever learn that the only way to insure elected people remain true to their principles is to limit their exposure to corrupting influences? Two terms, either local, state, or national and no more.

If there are not enough good people left in this country to fill the elected offices, then keeping self-serving politicians in office for decades will not help.

Unfortunately for America and civilization in general, the ability to communicate instantly has resulted in enough democracy (via pollsters, media empires, social media, etc. awash in highlighting the latest issues of divisiveness/feel good collectivism/identity politics) that the Founding Principles are in jeopardy. Margaret Thatcher once noted that America was born of principles whereas European countries were a result of history. Everyone seems to be out to increase their power/wealth in some fashion at the expense of principle. With everybody and their dog following the latest polls/posts and narcissistically weighing in to further their personal causes to the exclusion of any other viewpoint, principles such as Individual God-Given Rights, Individual Liberty, Personal Responsibility, Fiscal Accountability and the like are under siege on all fronts. Unless a strong bloc of us vigorously support such principles using the soap box, ballot box and jury box, we are surely headed for dark times when the cartridge box is needed sorely and it may well be too late to save the Republic that was once founded on principles.

The voters can't hold them accountable for what they say and do because they have no idea what they actually say and do thanks to the MSM. For confirmation read the comments after just about any political article on WaPo, the NYT, HuffPo, or the Daily KOS. Obama has never lied, his administration is the most transparent in history, he fixed the economy after Bush wrecked it and it's great now, there isn't a deficit, there's no unemployment, he got everybody free health care, he ended government spying, and if since everything he's done is wonderful, if you don't like his policies, you're a racist. And then honestly, no matter what is in the MSM, most people are stupid....the kind of stupid that can't be fixed. "Democracy" can't work over the long run, and doesn't, which is why the Founders attempted to establish a Republic....but it didn't last long.
