I'm going to be traveling to Texas for my brother's wedding and one of the places we're planning on visiting is Austin. We'll definitely be stopping at Stubbs BBQ and I was wondering if anyone knows if that is posted or not? Also, would it fall under 51% or greater alcohol rule or not?
If anyone has any other places in Austin that should either be avoided or are "Must See", let me know!
Thanks

Re: Stubbs in Austin
Hmm, that's a difficult one. Stubb's is both a restaurant and a music venue. The shows there are generally admission-based, so that combined with the fact that it's a restaurant makes it quite possible that it's not 51%. When are you traveling to Austin? If I'm down that way, I'll see if I can take a look. You can also call the Austin TABC office and get a vague answer as to whether they are considered a "restaurant" or "bar". I've not found their answers to be satisfactory or comprehensive, though.cybrus wrote:I'm going to be traveling to Texas for my brother's wedding and one of the places we're planning on visiting is Austin. I'll be there in April. If you are in the area and can take a look, I'd appreciate it! Worst case would be to just lock it up in the car while I'm inside, but I hate leaving things in the car, especially when out of state.
Thanks!
As far as Austin is concerned, are there any places I should definitely check out? I'm definitely looking forward to the music aspect (huge blues fan) but I would love to see anything cool that the city has to offer.

Fun things to do around Austin... I am a big fan of the greenbelt - spend a lot of time running up and down that. There are also some great bird and butterfly watching places in the area. I would say that the Salt Lick (original in Driftwood) is a must visit - but go hungry and with cash (they don't take plastic). The bats downtown are pretty cool as well.

There's tons of great things to do in Austin. What type of stuff are you into?
