http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/08/04/ba ... -spike-in/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Baltimore's police and civic leaders launched a two-month partnership Monday that will see ten federal agents embed with the city's homicide detectives in the latest bid to curb a surge in violent crime that has not been seen in decades.
Under the program, two special agents from each of the federal government's five crime-fighting agencies (the FBI, DEA, Secret Service, U.S. Marshals Service and the ATF) will help investigate cases for the next 60 days.

If you were a Baltimore officer in that toxic environment, which would you rather do, real policing or sitting in your car or office with a cup of coffee and donuts.
No real surprise why murders have gone through the roof in Baltimore or several other big cities.

Exactly. I dare say the whole "We can police ourselves" discussion has ended at this point. Unfortunately, its probably going to take the National Guard to get it back under control again.stroo wrote:If you were a Baltimore officer in that toxic environment, which would you rather do, real policing or sitting in your car or office with a cup of coffee and donuts.

The thugs have simply taken the mayor's "space to destroy" order and run with it as anyone who has dealt with this type of clientele would know they would.
Police officers have been put on notice that the conscientious policing that used to keep the worst elements in check will be prosecuted without mercy. They have responded as anyone concerned for their own and their families' well being would have.
There are no surprises here except for the city's leadership that brought this situation to pass. They just can't understand why all this is happening.
You can't fix stupid.
It will be really hard to put this monster back in the box.

when i read the article this morning i got a chuckle...... basically the one I read said they were going to help reduce the crime rate..... being put with homicide detectives doesnt that mean that the crime was already COMMITTED..... how can they reduce crime if it eas already committed.

I hate to think of how many innocent law abiding citizens have been victimized since Baltimore PD has been hobbled. Dont miss your water till your well runs dry.

I think there might be a bigger problem here. Liberal fans of big government need things out of control so that government can step in and fix it. Result: even bigger government with even more control. I think this fits exactly with the definition of "change we can believe in" from his majesty.
Of course, letting the Feds "fix" anything is proof you believe in the tooth fairy.

So will one of the next steps be martial law? Some of us tin foil hat types have been suspecting that the goal in Ferguson was that as well but all of the outside "help" wasn't able to make it happen. MD is certainly more fertile ground for a ML takeover than Missouri is. I'd like to attribute this to stupidity but I'm too suspicious.Excaliber wrote:The thugs have simply taken the mayor's "space to destroy" order and run with it as anyone who has dealt with this type of clientele would know they would.

Interesting what one finds - Limestone County, my stomping grounds whose most fetching vistas some say are best seen through a rear view mirror, was under martial law in 1922. Googling, I found it was briefly declared to be under martial law in 1871, too.
More generally interesting are some comments I found in https://books.google.com/books?id=9UIfO ... aw&f=false
To wit, and in part:
Wild stuff. The racist overtones in the situation belong to history, not to me.

To wit, and in part:
Gun control, passed in reaction to violent outbreak, and, on top of that, the State levied a special military tax against Limestone County to pay for its occupation. In April, 1871, Congress passed the Ku Klux Klan Act... In Austin a special act, signed on November 6, 1871, targeted Klan-like activities... Additional acts prohibited civilians from carrying deadly weapons - specifically, concealed pistols, knives, slingshots, brass knuckles or spears...
Wild stuff. The racist overtones in the situation belong to history, not to me.
