Sounds simple - any time I happen to be at the range, I can pull out one or more targets, shoot them, then save them until I have all ten. This could be spread out over days, weeks or months. However, the scoring for the next few skill ratings gets more complicated, and this is where I'm getting confused. For example, the requirements for Marksman First Class include the following:Shoot 10 plates with five (ten for Marksman) shots on each plate. The 10 plates do not have to be fired in succession or on the same day.
So far so good. But now comes the part where I get confused, under "Course of Fire and Rating Requirements:"This is conducted in two stages. Both stages must be completed in the same session to qualify as one completed course of fire.
Stage 1 Strong Side: Five targets with 10 shots each, in 6 minutes.
Stage 2 Week Side: Five targets with 10 shots each, in 6 minutes.
A total of 10 shots per target. Possible score per target: 100.
I understand the strong side/weak side component, the 10 shots per target and the scoring. My confusion stems from the terms "session" and "course of fire" in these two statements:Shoot 10 targets, 5 with a score of 46 or better and 5 with a score of 56 or better. The 10 targets do not have to be fired in succession or on the same day.
Does this mean that in one "session", I have to shoot strong and weak handed at the same target, and that target counts as one "course of fire."Both stages must be completed in the same session to qualify as one completed course of fire.
The 10 targets do not have to be fired in succession or on the same day.
As for the targets not having to be fired in succession, does that mean you can shoot one or more targets with your strong hand, then go back and shoot the same targets with you weak hand, as long as those are both done at the same target in the same "session"?
