Purchased the Super Semi-Automatic (SSA) trigger and the Geissele 2 Stage (G2S). The latter is described as a budget version of the SSA and that intrigued me. Is the SSA $50 better than the G2S, and for that matter, are either of them $100+ better than the milspec triggers?
Installation of the SSA was straight forward. I found setting the trigger and engaging the safety the easiest way to maneuver the hammer and get the pin in.
The G2S is almost identical to the SSA (see descriptions below) and fought me a little with the hammer pin because it does have a different retention system than the SSA. The G2S uses a little coiled spring & bar on the right side of the hammer to catch the unique Geissele pin. Differs from stock with mirrored grooves on either side of the pin.
How does the SSA feel? It's super smooth and breaks clean. I was skeptical, but it's a terrific trigger and will spoil you for anything else up to that price point. Makes the milspec trigger it replaced feel like it was packed with sand. I'd like to do a direct comparison to some of the cartridge triggers, but that will have to wait.
On my trigger gauge, I did 4 passes of 10 and sorted them low to high.
Averages were (SSA): 3 lbs 14oz, 3 lbs 15 oz, 4 lbs 2.4 oz, and 4 lbs 3.4 oz.
The G2S trigger also feels great, but not as great as the SSA. To be fair, I should have tested this trigger first because I doubt I would have found any fault with it. It's just a hair 'less' nice than the SSA.
Averages were (G2S): 4 lbs 1.7 oz, 4 lbs 4.9 oz, 4 lbs 5 oz, and 4 lbs 5.6oz.
Summary: Is the SSA $50 more trigger than the G2S? The budget side of my brain says no and the trigger pull values show that it's a very slight difference. However, the trigger finger offers a strong worded argument against the bean counters. I wouldn't hesitate to buy the G2S, but I'd be plumb tickled if they accidentally sent me an SSA trigger instead

The SSA is a 4.5lb. non-adjustable combat trigger that is a precision two-stage trigger and allows precise and accurate trigger control. The SSA’s two-stage design allows the trigger to be light enough for accurate and precise shots, but forgiving enough for CQB. The SSA is safety certified by Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center. It is recommended for demanding applications such as Law Enforcement use, Close Quarters Battle (CQB) and mid-range carbine work.
The Geissele 2 Stage (G2S) was designed to be a high quality, cost effective option of the SSA. The G2S is a 4.5lb. non-adjustable combat trigger that is a precision two-stage trigger and allows precise and accurate trigger control. The G2S is manufactured from the same tool steel as the SSA. Visually, from the outside of the weapon there is no difference from the SSA and the feel and reliability is the same. The G2S however has a different way of holding the hammer pin in place, there is no laser markings, and the parts are only spot checked for MP.
