NFA Wait Times

Post by The Annoyed Man »

BATF cashed my $200 check for a Form 4 suppressor back on June 2nd. I know that they don't start processing the application until they cash the check, but I didn't have a sense of how long they are taking these days to process them. On searching the ATF.gov website to try and find out, I found a couple of items others might find useful:
I'll add more links as I find them.

I turned my form 4 in on May 20th. There was a mistake made they contacted the gun store that I bought it at, we made the corrections I emailed the corrected form 4 the ATF said that looks good so I mailed the new forms to her Thursday. The ATF said about 1 more month.

Self reporting via http://www.nfatracker.com

Form 1 wait times reported at AR15.com

Mixed forms and submission methods at AR15.com

I know there are other venues tracking wait times too.

I have a SilencerCo Omega waiting for the NFA Branch to give me my stamp. This will be my third form submitted, second Form 4. First Form 4 took nearly 9 months. I'm on month 4 right now, I called in two weeks ago and they told me late November. Keep in mind I submit under a trust so no fingerprint delay, no LEO sign-off, etc.

I'd donate my time to help get the eFile system back up and running if given the opportunity, at this point in time. I have to start shopping for my next can here VERY soon just so I have it around for next spring

Bought my first suppressor on 12/15/14. Three months to the day, 3/15/15, I got email from Silencer Shop that my tax stamp was back. Bought the second one on 3/18/15. That one was one day shy of five months.

Thanks for the tip. They cashed my check on 6/2/15. Five months would make it 11/2/15. My birthday is 10/5. Hopefully the approval and birth dates will coincide.

You can try calling the NFA Branch @ (304) 616-4500 and ask for the status. They'll ask you for the serial number of the can, the name of the trust, and the name of the dealer who's transferring it to you.

My most recent can, a SilencerCo Spectre II went pending on May 22nd (the check was cashed the same day) and approved on September 11th. So just shy of 4 months at this point.

No joke. The time for Form 1s has jumped like crazy. Filed one first of February and it came back in 59 days. Second one filed in April took forever....

Wait times seem to have gone up, I bought 4 suppressors in mid January and had them by early April ( Trust ). I ordered another one in late April/ Early May and just picked it up.

My Form 4 was mailed on 9/14/15, Trust method.........this is my first suppressor and the wait is going to be awful.... :grumble

I read that Form 4s via the Trust route are taking considerably longer than those submitted by individuals....but still not as long as they used to.

I'll post again whenever mine is approved..........

I filed a Form 1 & 4 in May via a trust.
Still waiting, I think between the looming June CLEO requirment deadline that never happened and word on the street that Form 1's were getting approved quickly there was a lot of panic applications.
Just my opinion of course.
