Anbody else recieve renewal letter today?

Was surprised to receive A renewal letter today. My License dose not expire till march. This is my first renewal. I hopped online followed instructions and entered credit card info and hit submit. Whole process took less than 10 minuets. Printed check list and receipt. Done! Hopefully they can use my finger prints and passport photo. Hopefully some of folks that were waiting with me to get their original CHL will join in.

Right on! Sounds like your renewal letter is right on schedule. They should get sent out around 6-months before expiration.

Mine expires in Jan, got my letter August. Submitted Sept 10th, arrived Oct 8th.

I'm about three weeks behind you. Received mine yesterday and completed the application this morning. First renewal and CHL expires in April.

Renewals can be started 180 days prior to expiration. A few years before DPS reorganized its licensing process initial and renewal licenses were taking months and months. I kept a careful eye on the renewal window, and did my dang'dest to get my package submitted to DPS as soon as it was possible...and still feared it might be delayed. Nowadays DPS is cranking them out in single digit weeks, so the 180 window seems luxurious.

I got my renewal notice 10/2 for my CHL that expires 3/16. I filed my renewal online 10/5. I got around to emailing a copy of my DD214 on 10/16. LTC received 10/31!

Do you still have to send in ANOTHER copy of DD214 for renewal? Seems like they should all ready know your a veteran. My original CHL didn't have the word "veteran" on it. When I did a change of address last year, they automatically added it to my new one. I still have another year before my first renewal, but was wondering if you still had to send in a copy every time. Thanks in advance.

I think you only have to send additional paper work if they request you to do so.

Only send additional info if it's requested on the checklist. The turnaround times are great! I exercised my LTC at the polls last night. The election judge was a little surprised that it did not say CHL.
