Did you memorize the Serial Number of Your Carry Weapon?
I of course have a record of all the make, model, and serial numbers of my gun collection, but how many of you have the serial number of you carry weapon memorized? I made it a point of memorizing mine when I got my CHL.

I'm a "no" on the memorization. I don't have enough gray cells to go around as it is. But I do have all my guns' serial numbers--and a bunch of other stuff--recorded on my password-protected BlackBerry (10 incorrect password attempts, and all the data is wiped). If I lose the BBerry in a theft, then I'll have to wait until I get to its backup data on my work computer, or get home where I have everything recorded. If both those sources are inaccessible, I'll have to get my safety deposit box where I have the backups of my home PC's data.

Not something I do on purpose, it mostly just happens, I also know my IL DL number, my IL FOID number and a variety of others. I used to run into people whose phones I had installed or worked on and be able to identify them by their phone number.Skiprr wrote:Scary, Jim.jimlongley wrote:I have a very good memory for numbers - my NYS Driver's License, which I gave up 14+ years ago, was L155184862898386146.![]()

Julian Bond (naacp leader) was recounting that when Bond was a child Albert Einstein was an occasional visitor to his families house. Einsten told him to "never try to remember anything that was already written down."
My serial numbers are written down, on backup cds, etc.

No because I carry to many different guns but I have the numbers on the receipts from my purchases stored in the boxes the guns come in stored in a safe place.
