Primary Arms had these on sale recently and I bought some.
They came with flush floor plates with the option of changing them out and installing the pull tabs they came with.
Other than what seems a bit of convenience when removing the pull tab equipped mag out of a pocket/vest or where ever, I'm not going to install them. (They will be longer with a pull tab and 30 rounders are long to begin with...)
Why?
Flush bottom AR magazines, like Pmags, don't come with pull tabs and aren't a problem to handle.
So, I would like to know how much benefit "pull tabs" are or are they a gimmick?
Thanks!

For those who are well trained, they are gimmick. For those who are not, get trained very well.Abraham wrote:Primary Arms had these on sale recently and I bought some.

Re: Troy Battle Mags Pull Tab Option
Pull tabs come into their own when you have a double-feed malfunction. This leaves you with one round half in and half out of the mag, so you have to push the button and just rip the mag out of the magwell. A pull tab makes this much easier because you can get a better grip on the magazine.
The idea got started by GIs making their own out of duct tape & paracord (or just duct tape):

Magpul got their start by making one commercially (Mag pull):

Re: Troy Battle Mags Pull Tab Option
Training emphasizes a likely loss of fine motor skills under stress, so easier to grasp-- add in wet or cold conditions and they make sense if you are using plain/slick steel mags. I imagine that's why the Pmags are textured and even have a lip on the end.

Re: Troy Battle Mags Pull Tab Option
I believe the primary reason for them is to make pulling the mag from a pouch easier.
