Looking for a scope and sling for my scary black gun

Post by cprems »

I have a SIG M400 SWAT. I have it for a while and am looking to accessorize. I'm looking for a good scope, forward vertical hand grip and a sling.

Any ideas or opinions are appreciated.

I have about $500-$600 to spend if this helps.

Blue Force Gear makes some good stuff and has an assortment of slings, including the Vickers, which is very popular.

If you decide to order from them, read this first:

I own three Vickers VCAS slings, purchased from Blue Force Gear. They are the very bestest most excellent top good slings.

BTW, it is worth the extra $10 for the padded version of whatever you pick.

As far as optics...... that's a good question. Whatever you do, spend the most you can for good quality. Various optics on my evil black (and FDE) rifles include: Aimpoint T2 Micro, Trijicon 4x32 BAC ACOG, 1-6.5x24 Bushnell Elite Tactical, 4-16x50 Vortex Viper PST, and a SFWA 5x20x50 SSHD. All of them mount on BOBRO mounts.

Most of those optics fill a separate niche, so figure out what niche you need to fill, and then go there. Alternatively, Vortex makes a REALLY good general purpose scope in their Viper PST line that is 2-10x44 that has a 4" eye relief and really bright clear lenses. I'm thinking of getting one of my own.

I'll look at the site for slings. I appreciate the input.

As for a scope, I want one the will be good for close quarters and out to 200-300 yards.

Keep the help coming.

Then you're probably going to want a 1-4x scope. If it were me, I would make sure it had a true 1x. Some of them are 1.2 or 1.3x and that can make two-eye open shooting difficult.

Keep the help coming.

How many magazines is too many?

How much fun is too much fun? Both questions are equally elusive. ;-)

+1 on the Blue Force Gear Vickers. I have 2 Choose your options carefully though, there are a lot of them. The quick release is a real blessing.

On the grip, check This one by FAB Defense It has a couple of very good features, including a quick release, compartment, and adjustable angles. What is not pictured well is the quick release, and the button on the opposite side you push to adjust angles.

I'll save you some trouble finding it. http://www.themakogroup.com/foregrips/h ... tment.html .

If it helps, send me your 500 and I'll fix you up.. LOL

A 1-4x is a good choice. The Busnell Elite Tactical I mentioned above is a true 1x, and it magnifies to a true 6.5x. They are available as both FFP and SFP versions, in MOA or MIL clicks, and MOA and MIL reticles. They are illuminated also.

I will qualify for the discount! This is great. My rifle has metal sling attachments already in place, what sling would be a good fit?

Thanks everyone for links and help.

Since I'm a iron sight kind of guy, how do you mount the scope? I presume with rings? is it easy enough to do?

Sig M400 has rail. You just get the scope rings that clamps on the rail with correct diameter of the rings as for the scope. Super easy to do.

:confused5 Too many magazines? I don't understand this question. The only way I can see that as being possible is if they are empty.

I went to a gun show a couple of years ago looking for a VCAS sling after some recommendations here. However, when I got there I mixed the letters up and ended up with a VTAC padded sling. I don't know which one is better than the other, but this is the one I ended up with and like it.

I don't use it very often, but it works good when I do.
