Recommendations from Glock 17 owners on owb kydex restraint holsters

Post by Idratherbecamping »

I'm asking for recommendations on Glock 17 owb kydex restraint holsters that you have purchased and used. I'm 6'4"/250 and don't see how I could ever carry iwb. My job doesn't allow for daily carry. This will be occasional carry, but I'm big on comfort!

I have had very good results from these guys for OWB carry:

I bought one of these, and it works pretty well. Comes with both a paddle and belt loops which are interchangeable: http://www.safariland.com/paddle/model- ... 80944.html

Thank you both for your suggestions. I'm going to order one soon!

Concealment Express makes a very fine line of Kydex and carbon fiber holsters. I have a carbon fiber one for an HK that is absolutely top of the line in its class. They are friction retention only, but do a very serviceable job of that.

They have a pre-Christmas sale going for Glock models at under $40 each. That's a really hard deal to beat.

You might want to drop a hint to Santa.

Raven Concealment phantom with the OWB pancake wings works the best for me. I wear a nylon velcro "under belt" with that on it, so nothing comes out and over the belt like a clip or anything. I carry a 19 and a spare mag in slacks and a tucked in Polo every day and no one notices.

Another vote for Bravo Concealment.

ETA: They have holsters pre-made for popular guns, like the G17, that they'll ship out to you quickly if you want it fast and don't care for custom options.

:thumbs2: Picked up the safariland 578 paddle holster yesterday at Cabela's. I tried it on at home and it holds close to the waist. I wear large jackets and shirts that will conceal just fine. I'm looking forward to trying it out when shopping with the DW.

I know it is not kydex, but give a serious look at Safariland's pancake holster with thumbsnap. I have both of these holsters, and I've only worn the 578 a couple of times, but pancake holster is my EDC, and if you like how close the 578 holds your G17 (which I also carry) close to your body, you'll LOVE how close and tight the pancake does it. And it is really comfortable, and conceals better than the 578:
