New trend: Closing a mall due to rioting

The Houston Galleria has been closed once, that I am aware of due to unruly crowds. All the really fancy stores have moved to a new Shopping District across the loop 610 that does not have a mall here in Houston. Many malls nationwide now have rules about unaccompanied minors.

And these are the malls that have survived. Many are now closed for good.

An entire real estate trend born and died during my lifetime.

Supposedly the rioting is fueled by social media.

They blocked people from entering stores in downtown Chicago on black Friday, the police stood by and no one got arrested.

Which is the new trend? Closing the mall or rioting in the mall?

And are we talking about protests or riots? Protesting in a private place is generally not legal, but I bet police won't arrest anyone. Rioting is a whole order of magnitude worse and I would expect any local business to close if rioting is occuring outside.

Personally I think property rights should be supreme. As long as what you are doing isn't negatively affecting people off your property. I don't mean some noise or the like from someone running a tractor. If you are pouring chemicals into a river, or the air then you are hurting property and people for potentially hundreds of miles away from you. Other than stuff like that go for it. As far as trespassing. If you tell them to leave and they refuse, then you call the police and the police won't remove them. Then I think you should be able to shoot them. It is real easy, don't want to get shot then get off their property when they tell you to leave. I'm probably in the minority on that though.
