can I use this in an IDPA match

I recently did my IDPA membership thingy and was wondering about guns,

I have a kinda custom 1911 but nothing real fancy, Novak Sights, beavertail safety and guide rod made of stainless, some stippling on the frontstrap, nothing real fancy, would I be able to shoot it or have to go with a lesser berreta 9mm?

As long as it isn't overweight you can use it. How much does it weigh with an empty magazine in it?

In a local level match, it won't matter anyway. I would not even worry about it. Just get to match and shoot it.

You betcha. Assuming that's a .45--not a .38 Super or 9mm--you'd shoot in the CDP division.

Not sure on weight, its 45 ACP, The recon Frame weighs a tad more than the factory colt frame. Recoil is super manageable.
Was looking at making it to one of the cross timbers IDPA matches, or out to Ridge runners today (didnt get to, had to qual for CHL)

Its a large unmanned range in stephens county (breckenridge) about 1 mile away from my dads land there. I used to shoot there almost everyday till I moved up to the city. Its excatly 82 miles from Granbury

They have 100 yard sight in range then a range with targets from 25 yards all the way out to 1000 yards. Tons of pistol Ranges which they do IDPA, 3 gun, Cowboy action and the other handgun thingy.
They will be having the Texas State Limited Championship out there Aug 18-19

Cowboy action- 1st sunday of the month
IPSC- 2nd sunday

3 gun is on the sat before the second sunday.

As it is a .45, you would be shooting in the CDP division. You may use either 7 round mags OR 8 round mags but not both. You need a minimum of 3 magazines but 4-6 is better.

About weight, there is an IDPA rule concerning the weight of a CDP gun, but for local matches, the basic rule is USE WHAT YA GOT. Be sure to check the gun's weight with an empty mag before shooting any Regional, State, or National matches.

What if it is a 38 super or 9mm? I fitted my 9mm/super slide to the frame yesterday and just waiting on my super barrel to get here.

Jsut got my IDPA packet in the mail today, only took a few days, did the thingy on sat morning via net and got it today.

Anyway going through the rulebook for (ESP) It says must be loaded to division capacity of 10 rounds in mag/ 1 in chamber. If capacity is not achievable due to lower mag cap. load should be maximum mech capacity plus 1 in chamber.

Not sure on its weight so maybe/maybe not make the 43 oz. rule.

I think 38 super mags hold 9 rounds, and 9mm mags hold 9 rounds, so would be 1 off the limit.

Plan on going to the CTIDPA thingy next thursday work permitting and just feeling it out maybe even shoot, will prolly just feel it out though. Dont have a holster yet, that seems to be something that is hard to come by for a 1911 with a rail. A guy I took my class with makes customs so am going to go with him for it. just gotta make sure it meets IDPA rules.

Oh, no he d'-int!!! A LESSER Beretta? LOL..........just giving you a hard time. I shoot a Beretta PX4 9mm at the IDPA matches and love it. That 1911 will do just fine, though! Don't see too many Berettas at matches these days, though. Not sure why that is.............??
