Talon Grip question

Post by bcooper »

I just put some Talon Grip's (skateboard tape type) on my Glock 19 and its clinging to everything. I love the feel of it in my hands, but it's tearing up the inside of my fleece jackets. Is this temporary? anyone have similar experiences? Is there something I can do to prevent that?

I have never had that problem.

Once you wrapped them on, did you use a blow dryer or something similar to "seal the deal"?

If you did and you overheated the grips, I could see a potential issue with stickiness.

Yes I used the seal the deal part.

it's not stickiness that is causing the clinging and I probably should have not said everything and just said clothes because thats what is catching on.

You aren't alone in that. A lot of people choose the rubberized for CC for the very reason you state. Might even be mentioned in the product info on their product page.

I really liked the rubberized grips on my shield, but they just didn't last in my environment (OC, summer, mowing, gun gets dirty as all get out some days). The lowest tab on the backstrap, right side (shooting hand), eventually started sliding. Happened within 3 weeks with the first one I got. Talon sent me another set for free ( I think its 90 day warranty? ) -- the second one lasted longer, but inevitably did the same. Read enough reviews and you'll see I'm not alone in this.

I considered trying the "skateboard" type, as some say it lasts longer, but didn't want the experience you related with catching on clothes.

I'm trying to find a cheaper route than sending my gun out to get it Steepled. I'm not inclined enough to do it myself. thanks for the feedback

Hmm, I was thinking about putting actual sandpaper on.
I just don't know how to put that on without messing up the grip with glue. Is there a good suggestion for this?

I still never experienced any hang ups with talon grips. But I know that everyone's usage is also different.

Stippling is nice btw. Not everyone's cup of tea though.
