Was considering something like this for my wife. Anyone have any experience with it or something similar?

Handi-Racker is a new patented product to help manipulate the slide on semi-automatic pistols.

Doesn't seem too practical for clearing a stovepipe in a stressful situation unless you attach it to a glove you wear constantly

My wife doesn't have her LTC so that really isn't an issue. She won't need it with her all the time.

Even so if she were put into a situation where she would have to rack the slid and was unable to do so it could be the difference between her funeral or her grand jury hearing . If she has that much of an issue with her slide perhaps a revolver or one that has a lighter spring

This is how I taught my wife to rack the slide on her pistol

Hot Dawg's video shows the right approach. I'm not saying everyone can rack the slide on every gun, but with a proper technique almost anyone who has had problems can rack the slide easily. ..

Those of us who normally don't have problems, might find it different as we get older. Arthritis and cold hands can do me in, So I learned to do it correctly all the time just in case I need to shoot with cold hands .. and these smaller pocket guns that have become so popular can be real tough to rack.

It is a Springfield XD but not sure it would help her any. That looks like it is held with 1 finger. Seems like it might be just as difficult for her to hold on to, but don't really know since I have never used it.

I don't know about a revolver for someone who can't rack the slide....my DIL physically can't pull the trigger on an LCR.

That is the problem, either a stiff slide or a stiff DA trigger. I have an old school colt type .22 single action revovler. She hated it because she had to manually cock it every time. I guess she didn't feel as Rambo throwing lead down range

I have several sizes of the Handi-Racker's - I most use on bench when checking pistol operation after cleaning, field tear down. However, it does give more to grab when doing the across chest hold/push racking. Also, the wall, post or table as shown in their video works, too. I believe it would be helpful for your wife. You might check Amazon or Cabela's - I think they sell them for less than direct from Handi-Racker.
