CVS posting a 51% sign

Post by dws1117 »

My wife and I went to the CVS on Rayford Rd in Spring last night to pick up a few things. In the bottom corner to the right of the door they have a 51% sign posted. I had to explain to my wife why I was laughing. This sign can't be legit, can it?

I'll take a picture nect time I'm there, which may be tonight if I don't ge to feeling better.

Just walk up to the pharmacy counter and order a burbon and coke

Or give the TABC a call:

Do they sell beer "to go"?

Do they sell beer "to go"?

It occured to me that maybe they just got the wrong sign.

Still a call to TABC is in order.

Yes, they do have some beer. Not a large amount or selection, but some.

I will place a call to TABC.

I am not insinuating that you don't know the signs, but any place that sells alcohol is required to post a handgun warning sign. If it is for Off Premise consumption, it will state that the unlicensed possession of a handgun is a felony, blah, blah.

The 51 % sign has a red "51%" in it.

They could have ordered the wrong sign. I agree you should notify TABC.

No offense taken. Confusing the signs is something that I frequently do. This time I am fairly certain it was the Off Premise consumption sign.

I also agree that it could be a mistake as there are several other CVS stores around here and they do have the off premisis signs.

For what it is worth, I have not encountered any place around here that was unfriendly to CHL'ers.

A few years ago, I called the regional office for the TOTAL convenience stores in my local area, because they have the TABC warnings posted about firearms and on-premises consumption.

This is Bowie County, which is dry. They don't sell alcohol at any of our local TOTAL stores.

The corporate dweebs were clueless, and finally stumbled around to what I already knew: they just sent out signage packages to all stores, based on what their legal department told them.

That particular chain is no longer on my regular route, so I haven't noticed if they still have the signs posted. No worry if they do, since they don't apply.

If its a CVS policy to post some sort of "sign" to restrict guns in general...

I am sure a call to the TABC will clear up their confusion, then they'll (CVS) post a properly formatted and visible 30.06 sign to replace it...

Just so there is no confusion in the future...

TABC is pretty quick to investigate and remediate these kinds of things. They are pretty friendly actually, and I'm sure they know that many of the people that call about this issue are CHL holders. :D
