Patron Saint Of Handgunners

Post by RossA »

Maybe some of y'all have heard of this, but it is news to me. Did you know that we have a "patron saint"?

God and the soldier we adore,
In times of danger, not before.
The danger gone, the trouble righted,
God's forgotten, the soldier slighted.

The patron saint of real gunners is St Barbara.

I always thought the holy trinity of gunners in general was Stoner, Kalashnikov and Glock. Some might say Browning should be in there, but that was in the old testament. :biggrinjester:

Sometimes I really wish a lawyer would chime in and clear things up. Do we have any lawyers on this forum?

Blasphemer! You deserve a good stoning! How dare you denigrate John Moses Browning (PBUH)!

No such thing as the "old Testament" There is the Hebrew Bible and the Christian Bible. I have HUGE admiration for the Catholic Saint system, and we often contribute to Catholic Charities.

Now let's get serious, clearly we cannot ignore Yisrael Galili (Balashnikov) (1923–March 9, 1995), best known for inventing the Galil assault rifle. He also helped create the Uzi submachine gun. He was known in the military by the nickname 'Father of the Rifle'. ;-)

That may be, but JMB was the father of many rifles and shotguns and pistols and machine guns! :biggrinjester:

I was kind of under the impression that the patron saint of handgunners was Colonel Jeff Cooper, or maybe Elmer Keith.

I'm a member of the Congregation Of The Enlightened Pistolero. Does that count for anything? ;-)
