"Cool Hand Luke" star George Kennedy passed away Sunday at his home in Boise, Idaho.
Best remembered as a tough-guy character actor in westerns and disaster films, Kennedy
won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his work in "Cool Hand Luke" opposite Paul Newman in 1968.

A great actor who played a wide variety of roles. I don't know anything about his personal life or his political views. I find that pleasantly refreshing considering most other famous actors today.

What I immediately thought of was the 'observer' in the movie The Dirty Dozen, when the 'Dirty Dozen' captured the CP, and him laughing.
He was in so many movies and TV series. Just take a look at his credits:

The story I heard was that he got his start in acting when he was on a set of a military film as a technical advisor.
