Blue-Emu / Do You Use It With Effective Results?
Or is it just another mediocre gel for relieving arthritic hands?
I've been slapping it on without any appreciable results, but the directions essentially tell you to apply liberally, three times a day for two weeks before it'll do you any good and I'm only at day 6 or maybe 8.
I know OTC medicines can be effective if you follow the rules, but the timing is iffy.
It took me 6 months before the Choindroitin-Glucosamine I take daily kicked in.
What say you about Original Blue-Emu super strength.
Beneficial?
Yea or Nay?

I've never used it but walmart shoppers and Johnny Bench seem to love it. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Blue-Emu/10313101

I have used Two Old Goats. It works, but has a strong smell.

I've never used it personally, but when I was still rodeoing all the time they sponsored tons of events, and I really did hear good things about it from friends that used it.

Just use straight emu oil. Available widely on the Interwebs.

The ingredients are: lavender, chamomile, rosemary, eucalyptus, peppermint, birch bark.
The eucalyptus is the strongest smell.
When I traveled to Asia, I used to use Tiger Balm. I could buy it very cheap.
It has a very strong smell of eucalyptus and camphor.
The version they sell in the US isn't as strong.

Thanks all for your input.
So far, what I'm using is still not doing anything to stop hand pain.
I wonder if those who claim benefit isn't the old placebo effect at work?

Could be. It makes me think of the old Steve Martin joke about inventing a time-release placebo.Abraham wrote:Thanks all for your input.

If you can put up with the smell, try the Two Old Goats. It is available on-line.
I first bought it at Ace Hardware. Recently I have seen it at the checkout counters at Walgreen's.

I've heard of a Blue Ointment but I'm not familiar with Blu Emu.

I use Blue Emu and have for a couple of years. Yes, it is true that it can take up to 2 weeks to start getting any relief (actually took me closer to 3 weeks) but it does help quite a bit now. I use it pretty much daily.

Seriously, don't you believe this is more in the "snake oil" category? Although there are topical meds that can be used to carry true pharmaceutical agents through the skin I do not believe this is one of them. Placebo value is very high on many if not most of these products which have NO FDA approval. Backed by the "empty bottle guarantee" for most people means they just throw it away.
I think for most people if you can handle it, plain old aspirin is one of the best drugs for arthritic pain. It is anti-inflamatory and an analgesic. Beware of Tylenol in excess though as it can cause liver damage.

I heard it makes hair grow out the top of your nose and ear lobes.
