Actress Patty Duke Dies at Age 69

Post by WildBill »

Anna Marie "Patty" Duke (December 14, 1946 – March 29, 2016) was an American actress of stage, film and television.
She first became known as a teen star, winning an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at age 16 for her role
as Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker, which she had originated on Broadway. Later she had the lead in the eponymous
sitcom The Patty Duke Show. Duke progressed to more mature roles such as in the film Valley of the Dolls (1967) playing
Neely O'Hara. She served as the president of the Screen Actors Guild from 1985 to 1988, four years after her Patty Duke
Show co-star William Schallert held the same office.
RIP Patty.

Patty Duke, the teen who won an Oscar for The Miracle Worker and later played "identical cousins" in her own TV sitcom, has died. She was 69.

Loved that flip hair style.

This has not been a good year for stars.

RIP

Hmmm?

That's the same age (69) that both Mrs. Oldgringo's and my mother died. That is 5 years younger than Mrs. Oldgringo and I are today. It's later than you think, us all better be tightenin' up/gittin' right a bit, eh boys?

Closer than you think O.G. I'm a year & a half younger than she, so I think about it often.

But I do remember when I first saw her on screen in The Parent Trap. I immediately had a crush on her. A great actress. God Bless her.

If I said "I feel ya brah", would that buy me a few extra years?

Sorry joe817, but it was Haley Mills in "Parent Trap", not Patty Duke. :nono:
