"....military grade bullets...."

The reporter writes like he thinks he's being impartial, but his word choices betray his personal biases.
In an interview, I asked Chief Craig if he ever worries about the citizens that he has urged to arm themselves?

"What concerns me, more than anything else, is guns in the hands of criminals, guns in the hands of terror suspects. That's what keeps me up at night. Not armed citizens," Craig says.

Meanwhile, Cortis reports so many Detroiters are seeking concealed pistol permits, classes are booked for two months out.
Here's what I think.... It find it more than merely coincidental that CHL classes in Detroit are booked solid two months out after the city was mismanaged into the ground by democrat politicians who made their bones pandering to grievance groups.

I find it mere than merely coincidental that there are more CHLs issued nationally than ever before after decades of politicians running the nation into the ground by pandering to grievance groups.

Detroit politicians, presidents, and congressmen have made the nation a more dangerous place with their irresponsible domestic policies, and reckless foreign policies — so much so that people now feel the need to take their safety and protection into their own hands more than ever before.

Decent article, seemed like he didn't go into it with a preconceived agenda, but rather actually did some research and spoke to people who dealt with the issues in real life.

Thanks for posting this. :tiphat:

"It's puzzling that so many Americans are choosing to arm themselves at a time when the FBI tells us violent crime and property crime have been falling dramatically for two decades."

Yes, the FBI "tells us"...

My patience with leftist schmucks has also been falling dramatically for two decades.

You think that drop in crimes has anything to do with an increased armed citizenry?

Go to Chicago, a gun free utopia, or DC, and see their stats. They are in a war zone.

Schmucks.

There is enough correlation between falling crime and rising CHL to reasonably perceive that one is causing the other. That can only be taken one way logically - that rising CHL numbers is causing a decrease in crime. But for any of this to make sense to liberals who think guns are bad, there must be no sense......rising CHL numbers must remain a mystery, unexplainable because crime is falling....which of course defies logic, as does most of the liberal agenda....

If the annual number of house fires were declining, would their be whining about the number of new fire extinguishers being purchased and a push to encourage people to purchase and keep fewer fire extinguishers? What about the incidence of cavities, would they be pushing for people to purchase fewer toothbrushes?

The premise of the article turns me off.

Perhaps it's because citizens are arming themselves that violent crime has been dropping.

There you go again trying to apply logic to people who aren't used to using it. :biggrinjester:

I do feel safer when I am armed. I actually hate the nuisance of carrying a gun, a pocket full of keys, a heavy wallet, a knife and a cell phone. I don't carry for my macho instincts. I don't even want people to know that I carry and NEVER use my CHL for ID just so that they don't know. I carry to protect myself and my family if the need ever comes up. That's it. I open carry on my ranch as it is easier and there are critters.
I shoot a lot for fun and have many firearms that I shoot for fun but I don't enjoy carry. I also, as mentioned, just bought some new fire extinguishers for the house as the old ones have lost their charge and even though I have not had to change a tire on the highway in 20 years I have a spare and a jack. Boy Scouts got it right, Be Prepared.

Why does anyone put any credence to government statistics?

Statistics prepared by the ultimate user who will be disadvantaged if the statistics are fiddled have some chance of being reasonably accurate and useful.

Government statistics are compiled and prepared by bureaucrats directed by whoever is running things at the moment, whose biases may not be known.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

An armed citizenry tends to be a polite citizenry.
