Suggestions and opinions welcome

Post by cmgee67 »

Ok guys I am looking for a good carry gun as a back up to my Glock 19. This gun will also serve a purpose for my fiancé as well. I had a Glock 43 and I didn't really like it and she didn't either. We looked at the ruger LC9 and while we both liked the trigger the feel wasn't that great. We are going to check out the M&P Shield this afternoon. What are some good options? I am looking at the Kahr CM9 bersa bp9cc and a few others as well. Looking for decent trigger and a decent capacity. Gun doesn't need a safety as well. So "fire away"

Aside from some ammo issues recently, which are my fault for being cheap, I really love the BP9CC. The trigger is smooth as butter and it feels really natural and balanced in my hand. Very accurate as well.

Why not use G26?

You already have G19 as primary, so you are used to glock trigger, and you can dump your G19 mag into G26. Plus, you can interchange the holsters.

I'm also not a fan of mixing different guns that I carry, so if I carry 1911 only, I wouldn't go and have an H&K as backup or alternate EDC and vice versa.
The "feel" is just way too different to me, and I'd need a lot more time and money to train accordingly.

I have to go with parabelum on this as well. If the G26 will do the job it is what I would choose. Having everything be the same and at least one way mag transfers would be nice.

I love the G26 and love glocks but Since my fiancé will be shooting it and possibly carrying it she doesn't like the thickness of the Glock. That's why I'm leaning more towards a single stack. I don't mind changing what gun I carry it has never really bothered me too much.

I'm a big fan of the XDs - either in 9 or 45(I prefer 9 myself)... its a single stack so it's a little limited on bullets but still more then a revolver. If you are looking for a similar sub compact with more ammo capacity you could look at the XD Mod 2. I think either of those have a better look and feel than the LC9 (just my humble opinion and you know what they say about those :biggrinjester: )

I'm still new to guns but I shot a G19 at my LTC training. I liked the gun mostly just didn't feel comfortable with the handle. I found an FNS-9 somehow searching for guns similar to the Glock. I ended up buying one, with no safety, it does come with one if you want. 17+1 round mag, slightly bigger grip.

When the ravages of old age and decrepitude made a change in my armory necessary, I chose two VP9s. 15 round capacity, 3 magazines each, night sights, and they feel like they were meant for my hands.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

Love my wife's VP9 - great feeling all around, customizable grip and the trigger is very nice. It is a full size pistol though, Its comparable in size to my XD 40 'service' model.

Walther's are nice - don't know much about the PPS, but I just got a Walther PPQ and its the best dang trigger out of the box I've ever had the pleasure to shoot so I suspect the PPS might be pretty similar.
