Gun Show Slap in face feeling

Post by Setxjeff »

The current rules at "The Real Texas Gun Show" I see as a Personal jab at CCW or LTC People.
You are ALLOWED to conceal carry or open carry of a UNLOADED gun and are not allowed to carry ammunition.

Copied from their web site.

OPEN CARRY RULES

Patrons and vendors will be allowed to carry both concealed and open carry while at the Real Texas Gun Show.

HOWEVER, NOTHING HAS CHANGED CONCERNING BRINGING LOADED WEAPONS INTO THE GUN SHOW, IT IS NOT PERMITTED!!!!!

Since so many Gun shows are held at government owned facilities that is illegal to exclude liscened weapon carry. I see the exclusion of ammo as a way to get around the state law by allowing the weapons carried in, to be used as very short ineffective clubs.
This is My own personal opinion.

This has been discussed here about several gun shows. Since they can't post 30.06 or 30.07 they still have the fear that someone will walk in and pull out a loaded gun to buy accessories for it. I CC at Ft. Worth and they had a sign saying no loaded guns, but it's not legally binding. If you are taking a gun to sell/trade or buy accessories/parts for, then it needs to be unloaded, but if have no plans to unholster your carry gun, then it's not an issue. I would advise CC since they will want to put a tie wrap on any gun they can see.

I carry every time I go to a gun show, but it's one of the rare times since Jan. 1 when I carry concealed as a religious tenant - every gun show I've ever been to has been filled with cramped isles and plenty of, ahem, "corpulent" individuals trying to squeeze through them. I don't want people bumping into my gun, or snagging it on clothing, or scratching it/scuffing it with the swept muzzle of their "totally rare!" single shot H&R 20 gauge that they want $400 for. I may be jaded!

I rankle a little at them wanting to unload and zip-tie all guns in the realm of the hypothetical legality, but I concede the point readily for people who want to try holsters, accessories, etc., since a pistol openly in hand isn't carried under the authority of a LTC, but rather on the sufferance of the property's controller, or mayhap a loose sporting exception. No LTC authority, no 30.05 exception, so restrictions like "no loaded firearms" is almost certainly legal in that particular scenario.

:iagree:

Did the same thing at the FTW Gun Show. I'm sure their feelings will be hurt by it, but there is no criminal penalty for not complying. There is, of course, the moral issue of not respecting the "rights' of the private lessee of public property. :biggrinjester:

They have a very real, and reasonable, fear of a negligent discharge. Won't take much pressure to lose their ability put on those events if it happens, or happens again, as it has elsewhere.

That said, concealed is concealed.

I went to the Houston Gun Collector's Association show in May. It was posted with the 30.07 sign, but not the 30.06 sign.
